Living Lab New Brunswick brings together farmers, industry and community stakeholders, and researchers on the farm co-develop, test and evaluate easily adoptable, climate smart practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering carbon, all while enhancing farmer profitability and strengthening our nation’s food systems.
OBJECTIVES
-
Co-develop, test and evaluate Climate Smart Best Management Practices (BMPs) that have the potential to enhance soil carbon sequestration and/or reduce greenhouse gas emissions while providing a net positive economic impact to the farm enterprise.
-
Identify readily available, Climate Smart Best Management Practices that have the potential to enhance soil carbon sequestration and/or reduce greenhouse gas emission while providing a net positive economic impact to the farm enterprise.
-
Explore and promote new and innovative and/or modified BMPs, developed and/or fine-tuned at the living lab, that have the potential to:
- Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration
- Reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions
- Protect and/or enhance biodiversity on-farm
- Improve water and soil quality metrics beyond the farm gate
