Passekeag Holdings, owned and operated by Don and Geraldine Bettle, is a third-generation farm that has been in the family since the 1800s. The farm primarily produces Angus beef and encompasses 400 acres of farmed land, a 200-acre woodlot, and three miles of riverfront along the Kennebecasis River. In addition, Don and Geraldine have set aside 300 acres of wetland in collaboration with Ducks Unlimited and the Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee to promote conservation.
Don’s deep connection to the Kennebecasis River, where he spent his childhood swimming and fishing, inspires his commitment to maintaining a balance with nature and biodiversity. He plants trees for future generations and, together with his wife and grandchildren, enjoys watching the birds and caring for pollinator strips. This dedication to preserving the environment and fostering a Living Lab on their farm reflects the family’s passion for ensuring a vibrant ecosystem for years to come.
