Barry Basque

Bathurst
Barry Basque is sixth generation dairy farmer located in Bathurst. Established in 1840, the farm marks its 186th anniversary in 2026. It’s a family operation. Barry’s wife Kelly works with him, in addition to their children Taylor and Braden and his parents, Charles and Beatrice.
The farm produces corn silage, grain, mixed gasses and legumes, in addition to raising dairy cows.

Barry said he’s participating in the living lab program to gain knowledge and information about climate action on the family farm. As the field data results become available, he’s assessing the impact on his soil and determining what changes to make in his farm management practices.
He points out that the cropping season seems to be changing constantly now, so the more research into agricultural practices that’s done, the more knowledge and information farmers have to help them adapt to the changes.
