Lane Stewart, with a background in concrete construction and a family history of fishing and
background in fishing and forestry, has always been close to nature. In 2013, he started growing blueberries as a retirement plan. Located on Miscou Island, Lane now manages now manages over 200 acres of wild blueberries, which he chose for their indigenous nature and low environmental impact. Lane’s sister works with him on the farm, and his brother helps with site preparation.
A member of the Blueberries NB Board of Directors, Lane is dedicated to innovation and
eco-efficiency.
He participates in the Living Lab initiative, and has already been involved in more than six other research trials, to continue to improve farming practices.
